Hello lovelies,

Tonight is the last Dance Downtown (Samba!) of the season and I wanted to share this gem of a free event with y’all. It’s in the plaza of the Music Center in downtown LA.

Imagine being in the center of the major performing arts buildings in LA (read the Walt Disney Concert Hall across the street, while the LA Opera building, Mark Taper Forum and Ahmanson Theatre are literally protectively looming over the outdoors dance plaza). Twinkle lights peek out of the trees, a live band performs in the background, all the while you’re being instructed on the dance floor by 4 instructors. The best part is it’s completely free and you can get there early to stake a claim on a surrounding table and bring your own picnic of food to share with friends. It’s magical.

It starts at 6:30pm with intro lessons and lasts until 10:30pm. So bring something to cover up if you get cold quickly. And something I learned last time was to bring covered toe shoes. That dance floor gets filled quick and the first thing to get a hello are your toes. Feeling the sassy samba mood, I’ve curled my hair and am wearing a short cotton blue BCBG dress and black strappy wedge shoes.  Pics of the festivities to come tonight.

My apologies for not starting this blog sooner so you could make plans to come. If you do come tonight, find me and you’ll be invited to my selection of wine and salami. =) It will come back in full effect every other Friday starting in May – and my offer will still stand.
