So lately my best friend and I have been trying to keep ourselves busy and “domesticate” ourselves by attempting to cook dinner at least once a week.  This week we tried to keep it simple by making her mom a three course dinner.  For an appetizer, a crab and artichoke dip (sounds more complicated than it actually is), main course, Filipino Spaghetti (that means some banana ketchup is mixed into the sauce to make it sweeter, and hot dogs instead of meatballs) and dessert, red velvet cupcakes (we made the cream cheese frosting from scratch).  Needless to say, we were very proud of ourselves with the praises her mother sang at the end of dinner and the sense of accomplishment of making a full dinner made it taste that much more sweeter!

What prompted this whole sudden need to be domesticated?  We were watching wedding shows (our guilty pleasure) and we are always super critical with the wedding cakes the bride picks.  We’ve always had random craving for sweet treats, so initially we just wanted to make cupcakes, but instead, we ended up making a whole dinner.

As we talked out our dinner menu, we talked about making a giant cupcake for dessert, because at a random trip to the store we saw this:

which creates this:

AMAZING!!!  We never bought the pan, we just settled for regular sized cupcakes.  But this is definitely something that any baking fanatic best friend could want.  Another variation of the giant cupcake pan is the following giant cookie pan:

The finished product would look like this:

WHATTT.  How could you not want these pans?!? I wish I had these pans, then I would be baking all the time!  I know what’s going on my Christmas list this year!! Happy baking everyone!
